Stump Grinding

Stumps ground below grade so the ground can be used again

Free EstimateNorth San Diego County · CA Lic. #945074

A stump left after a removal is a trip hazard, a mower obstacle and — as it rots — a home for termites and fungus. Grinding it out is faster and far less disruptive than digging: a stump grinder chews the stump and the main surface roots down below ground level, leaving a bed of wood chips that can be raked out and back-filled with soil. We grind stumps left from our own removals and from anyone else's, including old stumps that have been sitting in a yard for years. Tell us what is going in the space afterwards — lawn, planting bed or hardscape — and we will grind to the depth that needs.

Our Process

1

Mark the Utilities

Before we grind, irrigation lines and buried utilities near the stump are located so nothing underground is damaged.

2

Grind Below Grade

The grinder takes the stump and the main surface roots down below ground level.

3

Deal With the Chips

Grindings are raked out and hauled, or left in place as mulch if you want them.

4

Back-Fill and Tidy

The hole is filled and levelled so the spot is ready for lawn, planting or hardscape.
